Most people think that breads and baked food items are the only carbs, but pasta, cereals and starchy vegetables are likewise included here. On one hand, foods high in protein require an acidic environment, while on the other, carbohydrates rich food need an alkaline one. Combining carbohydrates and proteins results in neither an acidic nor a basic condition, which is not good. The result is that neither the proteins nor carbohydrates rich food become completely broken down, and this may result to lots of stomach troubles. This is the reason a lot of people suffer from reflux, for instance, or even irritable bowel syndrome.

To fend off such issues and burn fat efficiently, follow these simple rules of proper food mixing at every meal. At each and every meal, decide if you will eat protein or carbs, but not both. You may eat protein-rich foods or carbohydrate rich foods with non-starchy vegetables. Eat fruits on their own, and, ideally when your tummy is empty. To avoid digestive discomfort, consume only one type of food each meal, or mix the various food types as follows: sweetly flavored fruits with sour-tasting fruits, or acid fruits with sub-acid fruits. Melons should not be eaten up with any other fruit.

Majority of the people aren't aware that proteins, carbs, and fruits all call for varying time intervals before digestion is finished. It takes a couple of hours to break down carbohydrates, up to four hours to break down foods high in protein. This is crucial so you don't eat an incompatible type of food too soon after your previous meal.
