Artificial Sweeteners (Splenda,etc.) are Increasing Your Weight.

By Viktor Kuhle

There are many sources of information regarding artificial sweeteners. This article compares using artificial sweeteners (AS) and natural sweeteners. Artificial Sweetener (AS) products are advertised as non-caloric. The ads constantly tell you how healthful they are for you. They are much better than their competitors sugar or corn syrup. You might be surprised to learn some hidden facts.

We can easily identify the most popular AS products: Splenda ,Aspartame, Saccharine, Acesulfame Potassium (acesfulfame K)

These popular sweeteners are incorporated into almost every lite yogurt, ice cream, low-carb products, diet drink, puddings, and "reduced-sugar" products. Even some of the diet supplement protein powders are loaded with artificial sweeteners (AS). Go check out the label on that good tasting energy bar.

Of course you have heard of Splenda. It is carefully advertised as the artificial sweetener that is made from sugar. In manufacturing the Splenda, the sugar molecule is altered using chlorine. The result is a man-made chemical that is very close to a chlorinated pesticide. This is not a natural food and should be avoided.

Yes, pesticides are poison and it truth people are poisoning themselves and their families be eating and drinking foods that contain AS products. These products are not healthful and may be as bad as the sugar and corn syrup products that you quit eating. The health problems associated with "diet" and "lite" products are totally different than the ones associated with sugar and corn syrup.

When you eat foods that contain sugar or high fructose corn syrup, your healthy body suffers. Consuming foods containing these additives add empty calories, create a blood sugar spike, and will initiate an insulin surge. Your body will gain fat and your appetite will be stimulated.

Well let's look at the case for artificial sweeteners (AS). The most appealing aspect of using AS products is that you reduce the calorie count. There is growing evidence that AS products will increase your appetite for sweets and other carbohydrates, which will cause you to eat more later in the day. The calories you thought saved are back. In addition, AS products can stimulate high insulin levels which usually promotes fat storage.

You realize that you are losing the fat loss battle if you continue to use either artificial sweeteners or sugar/corn syrup additives. If you still are considering one you might ask, which one is worse?

The 4 artificial sweeteners listed at the beginning of this article are nasty chemicals that the human body is simply not meant to ingest. Aside from the problems I touched on so far, there are other health issues such as:

* some have been linked to potential cancer risks

* negative effects on the liver, kidneys, and other organs

* stimulating cravings

* gastrointestinal problems

* developmental problems in children and fetuses

* headaches

The product ads will continue to promote the benefits and ignore the drawbacks. The decision is yours. I strongly recommend you consider the fact that your body was not designed to deal with these substances just like it was not designed to inhale cigarette smoke.

Let's evaluate you alternatives. If you are now convinced that artificial sweeteners are at the bottom of the list, the next items on the list are sugar and corn syrup. These empty calorie additives are not as beneficial as raw honey, organic maple syrup or sorghum syrup. Sorghum along with the other natural alternatives provide nutrients and anti-oxidants. So don't return to the empty calorie refined sugars and start with naturally nutritious foods.

Now you're probably thinking that you'd like to still save on calories but avoid the nasty artificial sweeteners. Good news... You can! It's called Stevia. It has successfully be in diets for years as an alternative sweetener when you still want to save a little on calories and sugar but don't want to harm your health with artificial sweeteners. Stevia is about 200-300 times stronger than sugar so only a little is required.

This product is available at any reputable nutrition or health food store. I really hope you will make the decision to eliminate artificial sweeteners, refined sugar, and corn syrup products from your diet. If you want additional information regarding good nutrition and losing fat visit us.
